Horsemanship
„The basis of every interaction of horses is attention, confidence and respect. They react very sensitive, when one of these aspects is disturbed or neglected. In the work with horses you experience through there immediate reaction many things about yourself and how you are perceived by others.“
As already promised in my speech find below the contact data of Reinhard Mantler. This was an extremely interesting experience and it is worth spending time and money on it!

Partnership Problem Study
A partnership problem study was done from the University of Göttingen in 2005. 5130 men and women between 20 and 69 years where asked anonymous to tell their biggest partnership problems.
There where 10 problems listed:
1. Sex & Erotic (49 %)
2. Discussion behaviour (48 %)
3. Criticism (how to express negative feelings) (47 %)
4. Lack of aliveness and spontaneity in the relationship (44 %)
5. Lack of common activities (39 %)
6. Lack of tenderness (38 %)
7. Lack of willingness to change yourself (37 %)
8. Amount of time and energy invested in the partnership (36 %)
9. Amount of love (29 %)
10. Expectation from each other (29 %)
We all want to be Happy! Most of us do not have this because of lack of communication, time and too big expectations!
My recommendation is:
- Do something to feel good and get exited
- See your partner as a plant, (think what a plant needs!!!)
- Handle your partner with care and give him what you can with joy!
Do not feel upset now, just sit down and think exactly if you know what you want or you are missing, go and get creative! Try to do things different, there are so many ways!

Highest Award for Newspaper Designer Rolf F. Rehe
On October 13th, 2007 one of our Toastmaster members, Rolf Rehe, was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award of the „Society for News Design“ in Boston.
He was introduced with the following words, and I think that it is very interesting to hear about the life of Rolf. Many things might be familiar to the one or the other of you, but I learned a lot of new aspects about Rolf.
He began his career as a typesetter back in the days of hot metal at a small paper in the south of Germany. He then moved to New York and learned about the American newspaper industry. Later, he studied psychology, graphic design and journalism at Indiana University.
He was drawn to the theories of Sigmund Freud but quickly discovered a more interesting field: the perception of type. Rolf collected over 300 studies on this phenomenon and turned them into his first or two books. His books have been published in English, French, Spanish and German.
Next Rolf turned to teaching. He became a professor at his alma mater, and taught for more than 10 years at Indiana University. You could say, he’s been a teacher to many of us for decades.
In 1979 Rolf was a founding member of SND. He attended the initial API meeting and later was one of the signers of the group’s charter.
After the university, Rolf turned to consulting. He travelled the world redesigning papers in more than 35 countries on six continents. In the 90s, Rolf moved back to the old world, to Vienna, Austria, where he still works today and helped found SND-DACH, the German-speaking affiliate of SND. Today Rolf takes it a little easier. Fewer clients get his attention, but he’s still one of the industry’s most passionate defenders of typography.
By honouring Rolf Rehe with the „Lifetime Achievement Award“ for his impact on the international newspaper design, for the first time a designer in Europe was awarded. Rolf was particularly awarded for his contribution and his engagement for the realization of typographic quality in the medium “newspaper”. Here some background information about Rolf‘s career.
Rolf Rehe started his career in the years of 1950 as typesetter apprentice at the Swabian “Haller Tagblatt”. Since 1983 Rolf works worldwide as newspaper designer. His work brought him into 35 countries, and he provided over 100 newspapers with a new layout. In Germany he implemented among others the re-design for the “Handelsblatt, the “Rheinische Post” and the “Hessische Allgemeine. In Austria for “Die Presse”, the “Vorarlberger Nachrichten“ and the „OÖNachrichten“. The „Miami Herald“ in the USA, „La Nacion“ in Argentinia and „Deccan Herald“ in India are some of the international re-designs of Rolf Rehe.
Rolf is also author of books about newspaper design and typography as well as numerous contributions in the German and International specialized press.
Once again our congratulations for this very special award!
